Introduction

Founded in October Ma'anshan is a young and energetic industrial city. It has developed into a garden city with 1.2million people, including 530,000 urban residents. Ma'anshan consists of 3 districts and 1 county, and occupies an area of 1686 square kilometers, among which the urban area is 301 square kilometers. Located at the Yangtze delta, Ma'anshan is a core city in the Nanjing Cities Circle and also the eastern gate of Anhui province. Maanshan has a convenient transportation. It only takes 3 hours from Shanghai to Maanshan via expressway and less than 40 min to Lukou International Airport . Maanshan harbor is a good natural deep-water port. It is A grade port and opens to international ships. Ning-Tong railway runs through Maanshan and links with main railways such as Jing-Hu, Jing-Jiu, Wan-Gan and Xuan-Hang.

Located on the south bank of Yantze River , Maanshan has a profound culture. It was a natural defense for Nanjing and a strategically important town in the ancient time. It got its name after a mysterious legend about Xiangyu. The excavation of the Zhuran Tomb, a famous general of the three-kingdom period, was one of the China 's ten archeological discoveries in the 1980s and gave us answer to much suspense about that time. Huangshan Pagoda built by the emperor Liuyu of Song Dynasty, Literati and poets of many dynasties showed great interest to Maanshan, especially the famous poet Li Bai of Tang dynasty, who visited the city many times. He left us more than 50 well-known poems. After his death, Li Bai was buried at the foot of a hill in Dangtu.

Surrounded by rivers, lake and hills, Maanshan has a beautiful scenery. It shows a unique natural scene of nine hills surrounding one lake, and half city of lake joining the other half of hills. Caishi is a famous ancient battlefield, which lies in the southwest of the city. Caishi Rock is regarded as the best of the three rocks the project over Yangtze River . Taibai pavilion is one of the four famous pavilions along Yangtze river . Caishi scenic area is a national traveling spot, with a combination of natural and man-made scenes.

Putang scenic area is a provincial traveling spot, which is famous as an entertainment place.

Maanshan has been awarded the State Sanitary City , State Garden City and it also won the " Dubai international award for the best practices to improve the living environment". Hence, Maanshan is heaven for investment and housing.

Entering the new century, Maanshan will play a more important role in the market economy stage. People of the city are determined to build it into a modernized city in the coming 5 to 10 years, expanding its district area to 100 sqkm, and the population to 1 million.
