Teaching Requirements
Senior 1 classes are based upon the FEC program (Cambridge books 3 & 4). Senior 2 students are taught IELTS (Insight into IELTS & Insight into IELTS Extra). Generally, Senior 1 students receive 5 lessons per week (40 minutes per lesson), whilst Senior 2 receive 6 lessons. In addition to this main school, WITT teachers also teach to a number of associated outside schools.
Student Profile
Generally speaking, all students in the FEC program at Nanjing No. 1 Middle School are extremely motivated and conscientious. Classroom management issues are a rarity, as students take their academic progress seriously.
Accomodation and Facilities
The Nanjing No. 1 Middle School accommodations are located across the street from the school. There is one one-bedroom and three two-bedroom apartments for the six teachers. The accommodations are a mix of shared and private. Each apartment is different, but all are furnished with basic amenities including washers, heating appliances, dishes, linens, and internet. Utilities are all paid by the school.
The FEC staffroom is equipped with two well functioning computers and one printer. The office is fitted with six teacher working tables and plentiful storage space for teaching resources. FEC classes are held in regular classrooms, with equipment to operate audio cassettes, CDs, VCDs and DVDs .
