Kristin Martin
Kristin is living in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province where she is teaching FEC senior school. Here are some words from Krstin to all current and prospective teachers:
As soon as I graduated from University, I was not exactly sure what I wanted my career to be. I was overwhelmed by the possibilities. I decided that I needed an adventure. China has definitely proved to be that. Although I was nervous at first, coming here was by far the best decision I could have made. I have learned so much and made so many friends.
My best experiences have been my holiday trips. I have had time to travel all over China, as well as to South East Asia.
I can not pin point a worst experience, but that is not to say there have not been difficult times. Since it was my first experience teaching, I had my fair share of bad days. However, I had a lot of support from my co- workers, and managed to make it through. I have improved as a teacher of course, but I have also improved in other areas. I have gained independence, insight, and a lot of Mandarin!
To anyone considering coming to China, my advice would be, GO WITH THE FLOW!
