FEC (Friendly Experimental Classes) is an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) programme set up to provide foreign teachers - all native English speakers - to deliver the highest possible level of quality education of the English language to Senior Middle School students throughout China.
The programme is aimed at the Senior 1,2 and 3 level students aged around 15 - 18 years of age, with the Senior 3 year being the final Senior Middle School year before tertiary study.
The focus of our teaching is to:
- Improve to the greatest degree possible the students' proficiency in the English language for it to be useful to them now and in their future travels and careers, both within and outside of China
- To improve the students' level of success in any English language proficiency testing system eg IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, NMET - the main focus in this regard is IELTS training which we provide in different formats
- To foster an enjoyment of the English language and to encourage creativity in its use
Another focus of our programme is to foster and encourage the building of friendships and relationships with our Chinese colleagues which incorporates an appreciation of their own teaching and administration skills and methods.
The FEC programme has been running successfully for several years and has developed in many ways that deliver major benefits to the schools, the students and our teachers
The BCIT Academic EFL Programme
The BCIT EFL (English as a Foreign Language) programme is set up to provide concurrent training in the English language to students undertaking the BCIT China Programme which focuses on Computer Science, International Accounting and Mechanical Engineering.
The BCIT EFL programme consists of five semesters over the full 3 year duration of the course.
The focus of the EFL course can vary depending on the individual needs and requests of the partaking colleges, but generally is to:
- Improve to the greatest degree possible the students' proficiency in the English language for it to be useful to them now, and in their future travels and careers, both within and outside of China
- To assist with the students' development of topical English language that is specifically aimed at the subject matter of their BCIT course
- To provide language training in other specific areas of immediate and future career-oriented usefulness Eg. letter and e-mail writing, report writing, interview techniques
- To provide language training that will assist the students to improve their level of success in any official English language testing system, with IELTS training specifically to the forefront, that will allow entrance into associated BCIT degree courses or other tertiary education abroad.
A further focus of the BCIT EFL programme is to foster and encourage friendships and working relationships with our Chinese colleagues that incorporate an appreciation of their teaching and administrative skills and methods, while also assisting at every opportunity the betterment of the BCIT programme as a whole.
